The result of dramatic technological advances in recent years means that the new standard of care for gum disease (periodontal disease) is Laser Periodontal Therapy™. At Haynes Dental we have two state of the art lasers, a WaterLase© iPlus and a Biolase EpicTM 10 diode laser.
Lasers are excellent at treating periodontal disease. They remove infected tissue painlessly allowing the regrowth of healthy tissue. Many procedures can be performed on the gums with little or no bleeding. They also stimulate bone growth which means that bone will grow back in a previously infected periodontal pocket thereby stabilising what may have previously been a wobbly tooth.
The WaterLase© iPlus Laser uses laser energy and a gentle spray of water (no chemicals whatsoever!) to perform a wide range of dental procedures – without the heat, vibration and pressure associated with the dental drill.
With many procedures, it’s possible to use less anaesthetic, and often no anaesthetic at all. Waterlase Dentistry was developed specifically to repair decayed and damaged teeth, and treat gum and other soft tissues in the mouth safely and comfortably.
